Following the studies of the management models of performing arts venues in United Kingdom and Germany, la Red de Teatros Públicos de España (Spanish Network of Public Theatres) asked me to conduct a comparative study of the two models and make it known publicly in its General Assembly.
The following link provides access to the Slide Presentation that I prepared for the occasion. It can be observed the main features that differentiate the two models.
If you already have read the studies on the theaters of London and Berlin published a few days ago, you will understand much better the differences. Anyway for those who hasn’t read them can easily understand the distinguishing general themes of each model . Also you will find tables that compare the management date of pairs of similar theatres in London and Berlin. Among others will find the comparative data of the “National Theatre” with the “Deutsches Theater”, the “BAC” in London with “HAU” in Berlin or the “Oxford Playhouse” in Oxford with “Hans Otto” in Potsdam.
A fairly complete table leads me to systematize much of the world for different models of management of performing arts venues in response to the structure of its budget revenues.
I hope that based on the various management models given in the world, you can advance the management of your own space or cultural center. At least understand that the world is far beyond where the forefinger is pointing.
